R&D Product Development Supervisor
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our R&D Team!
As a Product Development Supervisor, you will provide support for R&D projects for a Pet Treat manufacturing facility to help the R&D team to transition developing products smoothly into production!
The Product Development Supervisor reports to the Director of R&D and is responsible in supporting R&D projects. The position provides testing support, accurately reports test data and observations, ensures traceability of test samples, and assists in the development of processing methods as needed. The Product Development Supervisor provides guidance and assistance to technicians as needed, ensures the lab is compliant with applicable SOPs and Policies and is clean and organized. Works closely with Research and Development team to establish accurate specifications and observations to transition developing products smoothly into production.
Specific Duties:
- Responsible for executing all formulation sample testing efforts, including bench top and plant testing. Maintains attentiveness for testing abnormalities, trends, and external influences.
- Records and communicates all test data and testing observations with accuracy to Director of R&D and management as required. Maintains well organized/ accurate Product Logs in accordance with SOPs, and ensures compliance with testing protocols, test methods, and/or standards.
- Maintains R&D Test prototypes and samples in specified retain room. Performs shelf-life studies on new and reformulated products.
- Completes all required training including safety and SOP
- Understand and follow company policies and operational procedures (i.e. cGMPs, QA, SOPs, Equipment Maintenance, etc.)
- Additional duties may be assigned and/or required
Education Requirements:
- College degree preferred
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
Environment:
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, odors, fumes, or airborne particles
- The noise level in work environment during testing is usually moderate
- The position is exposed to moving mechanical parts when running tests
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Personal Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows Office applications including MS Outlook (email) and MS Excel and windows operating system
- Capable of accomplishing efforts in a timely manner and with high quality
- Ideal candidates will also comprise the desire to continuously improve their capabilities and their understanding/ knowledge of our products
- Capable of operating testing equipment with strict adhesion to cGMPs
- Ability to observe tests in progress and ascertain if abnormalities with the test samples or issues/ external influences are affecting the test results.
- Capable of accurately logging testing observations in Product Logs describing any abnormalities to Director or R&D and management
- Ability to communicate testing results, clearly and concisely
- Technical aptitude for operating testing equipment
- Capable of efficiently planning their own time and advancing the product development objectives.
- Capable of applying good judgement to ensure a safe working environment
- Capable of maintaining control to test samples
- Must have a professional, collaborative, and supportive attitude focused on producing high quality work and jumping in to help on all efforts.
- Must be able to work independently and collaborate and work well with others in different departments. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of common manufacturing methodologies, technologies, and materials preferred.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to adhere to schedule work hours
- Maintain proper hygiene
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions in English
